Temasek Island

Temasek Island was conceptualized in December 2007, to be a sim in the virtual world of Secondlife, to represent and showcase the cultures of Singapore. The actual work on the island creation was started around the Jan and Feb 2008. The owner of the island had contact our SL content creation outfit to brainstormed, designed, planned and eventually built the sim.
The initial design was to represent Singapore as it was…, ancient Temasek island – a tropical island paradise, rich in natural flora with much diversity. There will be a set of realistic weather simulated over the island, with tropical rains and squalls, followed by periods of bright sunshine, and beautiful tropical sunset.
Over the months, as more developers were added to the list, the design had somewhat changed to a slightly colonial to 60s presentation of Singapore. Built-ups dominated the frontal part of the island, with a gradual shift to natural and rural builts in the middle and rear parts of the island. It was agreed that the initial concept of the tropical natural and feel of the island will remain.

Godowns and Wharf of by-gone days of Singapore.
In the background is the old kallang aerodome building that was built by another fellow builder.

Across the bogainvillas and lallang fields, sits the kelong by the coast. A sight that is almost impossible to capture in the hectic, modern day Singapore.

Kelong by the coast. This is designed to be a venue for holding conference as well as a dance and gathering place.
More natural haunts at the mudflats…

A mini-version of Chek Jawa and Sungei Buloh rolled into one.
Overall I am pretty happy that the island maintains its rustic and tropical feel. This is a rather fullfilling and enjoyable project, and it really stretches the latest environment graphic rendering engine of Secondlife to the maximum.

This is beautiful!
Did you create this? Do you provide any form of content creation in secondlife?
Can you reply me via my email?
